About the Doctor
Dr. MJ Hajianpour, MD, PhD, FACMGG is a board-certified physician in both Clinical Genetics and Clinical Cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics. He holds over 30 years of experience in clinical genetics and a PhD in Human Genetics from the University of Newcastle in the United Kingdom. He is currently Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics/Gynecology at Albany Medical College and serves as the head of the Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics at Albany Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Hajianpour has a strong academic and clinical foundation, having held prior positions at prestigious institutions including Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Genzyme Genetics, The Genetics Institute, GeneTrek Genetics, Integrated Genetics, the University of Iowa, and East Tennessee State University. His clinical focus spans prenatal, pediatric, and adult genetics, with additional expertise in cancer genetics, inborn errors of metabolism, newborn screening follow-ups, and pharmacogenetics/pharmacogenomics.
Throughout his career, he has consistently integrated clinical practice with basic and applied research. He has led numerous clinical research projects and has contributed significantly to the fields of medical genetics and genomics. He is actively licensed to practice medicine in New York, California, and Tennessee.
